XENTAL SCAN / PRIVACY

Privacy, in plain sight.

How your records are handled, what stays on your device, and what happens when you choose to share.

Updated October 26, 2026

Summary

Xental Scan is provided by Xental LLC. Patient records are created and processed on your iPhone. The app does not upload patient scans, photographs, measurements or consent signatures to Xental, and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs.

What stays on the device

The app stores patient names and optional chart numbers, 3D face scans, photographs, measurements, photo annotations, imported intraoral scans and consent signatures in its private storage. Records use iOS Data Protection and are excluded from iCloud and computer backups. Keep the device protected with a passcode. Export records you need to retain to your practice’s records system; Xental cannot recover lost device records.

TrueDepth and face data

The front TrueDepth camera and ARKit face tracking provide images, depth and facial landmarks to guide capture and create facial records. Vision processes photographs on device for optional annotation suggestions. These records and derived measurements are not used by Xental for identification, advertising, tracking or model training, and are not uploaded to Xental or shared with third parties by the app.

Sharing and exports

Records leave the device when you choose to export them through the iOS share sheet. The destination you select handles the exported files under its own policies. Your practice is responsible for consent, access controls and record retention. Deleting a record in Xental Scan does not delete copies you previously exported.

Purchases and Apple services

Apple processes subscription payments. StoreKit provides the app with product information and subscription status to enable paid features. Xental Scan does not receive payment-card details or send purchase records to a Xental server. Apple may process purchase, App Store and TestFlight information under its own privacy policies and your settings. Opening a website link uses your browser and its network connection.

Optional raw capture diagnostics

If you enable Save raw scan data in Settings, additional depth frames, camera images and capture metadata are retained locally for troubleshooting. This is off by default and is not uploaded automatically. Raw diagnostic copies are separate from patient records; remove them using Delete saved raw data in Settings. Do not send identifiable patient images or raw captures in a support request.

Retention and deletion

Records stay on the device until you delete the scan or patient, or delete the app. Deleting a scan or patient removes its associated record files. Optional raw diagnostic copies must be deleted separately in Settings. Deleting the app removes its local data. The app has no Xental account or cloud record backup.

Consent and younger patients

The clinician is responsible for obtaining permission to capture and use each patient’s records, including parent or guardian consent where required. The app records a consent signature. Xental Scan is a professional documentation tool and is not directed to children as users.

Website and support

This policy also covers the Xental Scan information website. Its hosting provider, Vercel, processes ordinary connection information such as IP address, browser information and requested URLs to deliver and secure the website. We do not add advertising, analytics scripts or tracking cookies to these pages. If you email support, Xental receives your address and the information you choose to provide, and retains correspondence as needed to resolve your request and meet applicable obligations. Do not include patient-identifiable information. Other Xental products have their own policies.

Contact and changes

For support, privacy questions or requests about information you sent to support, contact nick@xental.ai. We may update this policy as the app changes; the revision date identifies the current version.
